<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To clone a gene synthesizing a fatty acid having a trans-11-, cis-13-conjugated double bond from a fatty acid having a double bond at the Δ12-position. <P>SOLUTION: The gene has any of the following. (A) A base sequence encoding a specific amino acid sequence, (B) a base sequence encoding an amino acid which is derived from the specific amino acid sequence by deletion, addition or substitution of one to a plurality of amino acids therein and has an ability to synthesize a fatty acid having the trans-11-, cis-13-conjugated double bond from the fatty acid having the double bond at the Δ12-position, (C) a specified base sequence and (D) a base sequence which is derived from the specified base sequence by deletion, addition or substitution of one to a plurality of bases therein and encodes a protein having an ability to synthesize the fatty acid having the trans-11-, cis-13-conjugated double bond from the fatty acid having the double bond at the Δ12-position. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
