PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing method which is applied to processing of a video signal due to slow motion reproduction and which can easily and reliably output a video signal of smooth slow motion even when a recording means having a large capacity is not used, and also to provide an image processor therefor. SOLUTION: A repetitive field or frame is detected from the video signal due to slow motion reproduction, and a motion vector V (V1, V2, V3) is used to generate video data corresponding such a field or frame and replace them with each other.
