PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup apparatus which consecutively picks up many images and allows an external recording medium to record the image data, and also to provide an image data recording system using this image pickup apparatus. SOLUTION: A digital signal processing unit 44 reads image data from a built-in memory 46, applies predetermined processing to the image data, and outputs the processed image data to a first external medium 22A-a fifth external medium 22E. The data output to the media 22A-22E are performed in parallel. Also, the unit 44 reads the image data recorded in the media 22A-22E to reconstruct the image data before being divided, and outputs the reconstructed image data to a final image recording medium 21.
