PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal mold structure and a casting method using it, which is effective for preventing a blow-hole defect caused by involvement of the air remaining at the shoulder of a biscuit formed around a casting hole of a runner gate of the mold into a product, when casting semi-molten metal into the mold. SOLUTION: In the casting metal mold for semi-molten metal, a fixed mold and a movable mold facing each other are set horizontally to open and close, and by closing the fixed mold and the movable mold, the casting hole with the round cross section at the bottom of the metal mold and above it the runner gate with the smaller cross section than the casting hole are formed. Further above them a cavity part is structured together with an air vent means at the shoulder of the biscuit formed around the casting hole of the runner gate. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
