PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hollow fiber membrane which is manufactured by using a cellulose derivative having an antibacterial property as a base material and has high water-permeable performance and excellent pressure resistance. SOLUTION: A high purified water permeating velocity and high circularity are imparted to this hollow fiber membrane by adopting two coagulation steps in a hollow fiber membrane manufacturing process. The pressure resistance of this hollow fiber membrane is drastically improved by carrying out heat-treatment to the manufactured hollow fiber membrane to fix a membrane structure. In other words, the purified water permeating velocity of this hollow fiber membrane is hardly lowered even when a backwash operation is performed. This hollow fiber membrane can keep the initial membrane performance over a long period of time even when a filtration operation and the backwash operation are repeated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
