<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide inkjet recording ink which is water-based ink being advantageous in handleability, odor, safety, etc., having stable jettability, and being not defective in hue, fastness, water resistance, and image quality. <P>SOLUTION: The ink is prepared by dissolving and/or dispersing, in an aqueous medium, at least one specific dye of which the λmax in an aqueous solution is present between 390 nm and 470 nm and the ratio: I(λmax+70 nm)/I(λmax) [wherein I(λmax) is the absorbance at λmax; and I(λmax+70 nm) is the absorbance at λmax+70 nm] is 0.4 or lower.
