<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intake system for a multiple cylinder engine capable of obtaining both of the intake inertia effect and acceleration responsiveness with the simple structure. <P>SOLUTION: A part of this intake system in the downstream of a surge tank 4 and in the upstream of a throttle valve is divided into a high-speed intake passage and a low-speed intake passage by a bulkhead, and a rotary throttle valve device 6 is arranged in the downstream of the divided part. The throttle valve device 6 has a turnable valve element 7 formed with a valve-element-inside intake passage 7d forming a part of the intake passage inside the valve throttle valve device 6. When the valve element 7 opens at the predetermined opening or less, the valve-element-inside intake passage 7d is communicated with the only low-speed branch passage, and when the valve element 7 opens at the predetermined opening or more, the valve-element-inside intake passage 7d is communicated with the low-speed branch passage and the high-speed branch passage to supply the intake air into a combustion chamber 13. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
