<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflective liquid crystal display element with which excellent display quality is obtained in the case of pixel display by suppressing intrusion light incident on a silicon substrate. <P>SOLUTION: In the reflective liquid crystal display element having the silicon substrate 1 on which pixels with switching transistors 33, storage capacitors 34 and pixel electrodes 37 are arranged in a matrix, a light transmitting substrate 14 on which a light transmitting electrode 36 is formed and a liquid crystal layer between the silicon substrate and the light transmitting substrate, the storage capacitor has a structure in which an insulating layer is disposed between a lower side capacitance electrode 2C and an upper side capacitance electrode 4C, a field oxide film 52 is formed between the lower side capacitance electrode and a source 2S(S) which is an output terminal of the switching transistor, a peripheral part of the upper side capacitance electrode is formed so as to overlap the field oxide film, and further a distance between the peripheral part and a metal layer formed on the upper side thereof is made to be equal to a wavelength of a light source to be used for the display or less. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
