PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always eject a liquid drop in an optimum size in a liquid jet device. SOLUTION: An inkjet printer 2 comprises a pressure measuring sensor 40 for measuring an inner pressure of an inkjet head 10 and an atmospheric pressure and a tank raising/lowering device 30 for adjusting the pressure difference between the inner pressure and the atmospheric pressure to be in a predetermined value. A system controller 50 sets the predetermined value of the pressure difference between the inner pressure and the atmospheric pressure that enables an ink drop in an optimum size to be ejected based on a detected result transmitted from a physical property detecting sensor 38 and already known characteristic information of the inkjet head 10. The system controller 50 obtains the pressure difference by subtracting the atmospheric pressure from the inner pressure based on the detected result transmitted from the pressure measuring sensor 40 and controls to drive the tank raising/lowering device 30 so as to make the pressure difference to be in the predetermined value so that the height (h) of the pumping water is adjusted.
