PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera preventing deterioration of image quality caused by white and black scratches, and preventing reduction of use convenience resulting from preventing the image quality deterioration. SOLUTION: The digital camera selects a pixel judgment mode when detecting a temporal defective pixel, and thereafter sets an exposure time to either a short-time mode or a long-time mode, and photographs a reference paper (steps 100-104). With this, by comparing each pixel data with a threshold being set corresponding to the exposure time, the digital camera detects the defective pixel, and stores the pixel location of the detected defective pixel in an SDRAM corresponding to the exposure time (steps 106, 108). At the time of normal image photographing, the digital camera reads out the pixel location of the defective pixel corresponding to the exposure time from the SDRAM, and performs complementing processing against the data corresponding to the pixel location.
