PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize stable communication with a standard down-converter capable of performing only down-converting by providing an AFC (automatic frequency control) apparatus performing AFC to a reception station for receiving a signal whose frequency is fluctuated and to reduce the installation cost of the reception station. SOLUTION: The AFC apparatus 20 realizes the AFC wherein the AFC apparatus 20 digitally detects frequency variations caused by a satellite 23 and feeds back a control signal to suppress detected frequency variations to an LNC 28 for down-converting the frequency at the first time to bring the frequency variations of the signal outputted from the LNC 28 in a range within which a demodulation means 30 at a post-stage can demodulate the signal outputted from the LNC 28 to be thereby able to eliminate the need for the AFC at signal processing stages after the first frequency down-conversion.
