PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interface converting device for making connected devices recognize each other, and for connecting those devices. SOLUTION: This interface converting device 1 is provided with a first command converting device 21 corresponding to a USB and an ATAPI and a second command converting device 22 corresponding to the USB and an ATA. A switching device 16 diagnoses an interface owned by connected second equipment 3, and connects a first or second command converting device 21 or 22 through a control circuit 12 to the second equipment 3 based on the diagnostic result.
