PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skin care preparation for external use containing an active ingredient excellent in moisture retaining effect and chapped skin-improving effect, because the moisture-retaining effect and the chapped skin-improving effect of conventional skin care preparations are not necessarily sufficient and development of an active ingredient further excellent in these effects and a skin care preparation for external use containing the ingredient is desired, though skin care preparations for external use containing various active ingredients are already known. SOLUTION: This skin care preparation for external use comprises extracts of one or more kinds of plants selected from plants belonging to the genera Monochoria, Heteranthera, Pontederia, Hydrotrix, Reussia, Scholleropsis, Eurystemon and Zosterella. The skin care preparation is excellent in a moisture-retaining property and excellent in chapped skin-improving/preventing effects. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
