PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem on a conventional elevator brake diagnosis method for diagnosing the existence or nonexistence of a failure by performing sensory test such as visual check and then detecting a current flowing in an electromagnetic coil of an electromagnetic brake to make sure of the operated condition of the electromagnetic brake, wherein diagnosis is impossible during braking resulting in the cut-off of the current in the electromagnetic coil of the electromagnetic brake. SOLUTION: This device allows an elevator driving system to be braked by granting the push-against force of a braking spring to the elevator driving system. The device also allows a brake plunger 2 to be moved by the attractive force of the electromagnetic coil for diagnosing the elevator electromagnetic brake which can release the push-against force on the driving system. The device has an acceleration vibrometer 12 provided in the brake plunger 2 so that the electromagnetic brake 22, when opened and braked is diagnosed by detecting the acceleration of the brake plunger when operated.
