PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method which enables the manufacture of a toothpick, which cannot break easily in the tip portion. SOLUTION: A tapered surface forming process to form a tapered shape that one end of a toothpick body 2 truncated at a predetermined length becomes thinner on the end portion side and a flat face forming process to form so that a cutting plane becomes a flat face 3 by cutting from an oblique direction bisecting the longitudinal direction of the toothpick body 2 so as to leave partly the tapered surface 4 formed by the tapered surface forming process are included.
