Diagnostic agents comprising a peptide or a protein capable of recognizing at least a part of a tissue slice and a fluorescent substance characterized by: (a) having a fluorescence wavelength not close to the wavelength region of a non-specific autofluorescence of the tissue slice at a definite excitation wavelength; and (b) allowing simultaneous observation of image of the peptide or protein and that of the tissue slice. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a method for diagnosis by using the diagnostics and tissue staining; (2) remedies for diseases which are appropriated drugs selected by using the diagnostic methods for administration; (3) an analytical method using the fluorescent substance and protein for fusion to give a fused protein; (4) tissue slices stained by using the diagnostics; (5) diagnostic kits containing the diagnostics; and (6) appropriate remedies for treating diseases selected by using the diagnostic methods or kits.
