PURPOSE: A system and a method for providing a door bell service in a mobile phone is provided to output an effect sound or a melody through a speaker when the folder of flip of a mobile phone is opened or closed. CONSTITUTION: A system for providing a door bell service in a mobile phone consists of a key input part(110), a control part(100), a signal converter(130), and a door bell generation part(140). The key input part(110) is to access an external communication company server and to select the sound source data stored in a memory(120). The control part(100) downloads an external sound source after accessing the external communication company server using the key input part(110), stores it in the memory(120), and selectively reads a plurality of sound sources stored in the memory(120). The signal converter(130) converts sound source data, stored in the memory(120), in the form of a data signal so that the sound source data can be outputted as a bell sound when the folder of the mobile phone is open or closed. The door bell generation part(140) enables the converted sound source signal to be outputted to the external by a speaker(150).
