PURPOSE: A method for expressing line connection information in a facsimile is provided to express all information about call as well as information about the transmission and reception of a document. CONSTITUTION: A CPU retrieves whether a line is connected in a standby mode(ST100,ST101). If the line is connected, the CPU stores a current time in a start time region of a memory map(ST102). After setting the current time, the CPU retrieves whether a ring is received(ST103). If the ring is sensed, the CPU stores a state variable value '0' in a transmission-reception region of the memory map(ST104). If the ring is not sensed, the CPU stores a state variable value '1' in the transmission-reception region of the memory map(ST105). The CPU retrieves whether a communication start key is pushed(ST106). If the communication start key is pushed, the CPU stores the state variable value '1' in a facsimile-telephone call region of the memory map(ST107). If the communication start key is not pushed, the CPU stores the state variable value '0' in the facsimile-telephone call region(ST108). If the judged mode is a facsimile mode in the standby mode(S109), the CPU counts the number of reception papers and stores the counted number in a page region of the memory region(ST110).
