Process for the preparation of phenol by means of the hydrodeoxygenation of benzene-diols

Continuous preparation of phenol involves hydrodeoxygenation of benzene-diol with hydrogen in presence of catalysts based on elements of Group VIB and VIII of the period table, in an aqueous solution at 250 - 500 (preferably 300 - 450)[deg]C, at pressures of 1 - 100 (preferably 3 - 50) bar and a space velocity of 0.1 - 10 (preferably 0.5 - 5) per hour.
