The server executes an image reading session with respect to session request from a client device on the network. A determination unit determines the type of requesting client from the session request. The server executes the image reading session based on the determination result. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) information processing system; (2) method of sharing locally connected image input device on network; (3) method using image input device; and (4) recorded medium storing locally connected image input device sharing program.
