The invention relates to a system for managing a large number of reusable and returnable containers. Each container is labeled with a code in an identifiable manner. The returnable containers are used in several separate local substations (20, 21, 22) in a number of cycles and in every cycle the code is read out. The data that is collected in the local substations (20, 21, 22) is memorized in a master station (10) allocating it to the read-out code and is evaluated in order to determine the number of cycles of every returnable container. On the basis of the data memorized in the master station (10) the age and the number of uses of every returnable container can be determined. Once the container reaches a certain age or a certain number of cycles, a signal is sent to the local substations (20, 21, 22) to the effect that the respective returnable container is not to be reused. |
