The invention relates to a method for operating a pickling bath (1), based on caustic soda at elevated temperature, in particular for cleaning tools (3) in aluminium plants, in which the pickling liquor (2) is enriched with aluminium by using caustic soda and is replaced after a given period. The composition of the renewed pickling liquor (2) and the residence time of the pickling liquor (2) are selected such that the product of the method is a sodium aluminate solution (9), which may be used for the precipitation of phosphates in a treatment works. |
