Handling device and method of security data

A portable unit (20) provides control instruction for locking/unlocking vehicle door to in-vehicle unit (2). An encryption unit (10) arranged between controller (7) and EEPROM (9) of in-vehicle unit, encrypts the security data with cipher key based on control instruction. The encrypted data is stored in EEPROM, and the cipher key is stored in ROM (8). An independent claim is also included for security data handling method.
