Optical multi-ring network for burst data communication
摘要

The network has a core optical router (100) to support communication between optical single-ring networks. The router has a content resolution block to align channels in a chronological order. A controller recognizes destination of each channel input to allow each channel to be directed to the destination. A frame transmitted on the network has a burst datum and a header datum indicating destination of the burst datum. The router has a wavelength division demultiplexer to demultiplex optical signal received from one of the single-ring networks. A branching circuit branches off and outputs a portion of the demultiplexed optical signal on the set of channels. A wavelength division multiplexer collects channels which pass through the block and outputs the collected channels as multiplexed optical signals.
