<p>Method for recording magnetic information on the recording layer of a magnetic recording medium by means of a magnetic head while heating the recording layer with light shone from an optical head, comprising moving the magnetic head to a desired position on the magnetic recording medium having a magnetic layer for positioning the optical head, supplying a field Hr for positioning the optical head from the magnetic head to the magnetic layer for positioning, and outputting a light Pr for positioning the optical head to generate a magneto-optic effect between the optical head and the magnetic layer for positioning magnetized by the positioning field Hr and controlling the optical head to face the position of the magnetic head based on a detection value of magneto-optic effect.
