Command set for a software programmable verification tool having built-in selftest (bist) for testing and debugging an embedded device under test (dut)

The instruction for testing the embedded device by a built-in self-test (BIST) module in the tool, is generated. The identity of the test to be executed by the module is determined, based on the generated instruction loaded in the parameterized shift register of the module. The signal corresponding to the identity is generated for testing and debugging the embedded device. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) software verification tool programming system; (2) software verification tool programming command set; and (3) recorded medium storing software verification tool programming program.
