INTEGRATED MULTIPANE WINDOW UNIT AND SASH ASSEMBLY AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

A multipane window unit (20) is provided in which a sash frame (22) is forme d having an integral spacing structure (24) upon which glazing panes (30) are directly affixed. The integral spacing structure (24) is formed integrally with the sash frame (22) at vertical internal glazing surfaces (26). Adhesiv e (28) can be affixed to the vertical internal glazing surfaces to attach the glazing panes. In this manner, a rigid, structural sash frame (22) can be formed prior to attachment of the glazing panes (30), thereby eliminating th e need for using separately manufactured insulating glass units while obtainin g similar and improved benefits.
