FIELD: digital data transfer systems. SUBSTANCE: proposed method for authenticating data conveyed in digital data transfer system is characterized in organization and authentication of data prior to conveying at least one root directory block, subdirectory block, and file block to hierarchical structure, authentication algorithm being used for file data; authenticating value corresponding to file is saved in subdirectory block referring to file, authentication algorithm being used in its turn for this file authenticating value, and authenticating value corresponding to subdirectory is saved in root directory referring to subdirectory. Other aspects of invention concern authentication of second root directory by generating second authenticating value and data authentication prior to encapsulation in tables or sections of transport stream.
