The device has a housing (30) and an impact tool (28) with energizer piston (35) and at least a one-piece crankshaft (34) whose rotational axis runs at right angles to the impact direction of the impact tool. Between the drive motor (31) and impact tool is an axial stagger compensating element (33) which acts parallel to the impact direction of the impact tool.
