PURPOSE: A device for protecting a disc of a disc drive is provided to prevent a signal recording part of the disc from being damaged by an external shock while the disc drive is operated, and prevent a noise due to high speed rotation of the disc. CONSTITUTION: A main base(30) comprises the first base(32) accepting a tray(40) and the second base(34) having the same upper face height as the upper face height of the tray by extending from the first base with a step. The first shock absorbing parts(60) is faced to the signal recording part of the disc supported by the tray on the second base of the main base. When the external shock is applied to the disc, the first shock absorbing part is contact to the disc. The first shock absorbing part is formed by a material, such as EPDM(Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer), non-woven, or flocking, having a hardness smaller than disc material.
