PURPOSE: A navigation system, an information providing apparatus, a traffic information generation method and a navigation method are provided to rapidly display the traffic information by appropriately controlling the communication amount of the path data as well as to supply the most effective navigation since the path information is fabricated at the center. CONSTITUTION: A navigation system includes an information providing unit, a terminal wireless communication unit and a telematics terminal. The information providing unit generates the path data for the starting point and the destination required by the user based on the real-time traffic information and transmit the path data through the wireless network. The terminal wireless communication unit receives the path data from the information providing unit. And, the telematics terminal is provided with the self sustained map data and supplies the navigation with displaying by adding the path data transmitted from the terminal wireless communication unit to the self sustained map.
