PURPOSE: To provide a hydrogen generator which is able to prevent emission of CO and hydrogen, generate clean and safe hydrogen with high reforming efficiency and start-up within a short time by accelerating water vaporization after the start-up. CONSTITUTION: The hydrogen generator comprises a raw material supply part(1) for supplying a material to be subjected to a reforming reaction, a desulfurization part(1A) installed on the downstream of the raw material supply part for reducing a concentration of sulfur contained in raw material gas, a water supply part(2) for supplying water, a water vaporization part(3) for vaporizing water supplied from the water supply part, a reforming part(4) filled with a reforming catalyst for generating reformed gas from the raw material and the water by a steam reforming reaction, a burner(7) for heating the reforming part, a first air supply part(5) connected to the burner and supplying air for combustion to the burner, a fuel supply part(6) for supplying fuel to the burner, a shifting part(9) where the reformed gas discharged from the reforming part is supplied and filled with a shifting catalyst, a CO oxidation part(10) where the shifted gas from the shifting gas is supplied and filled with a CO oxidation catalyst, a fuel cell(11) where the product gas from the CO oxidation part(10) is supplied, and a combustion catalyst(12) installed in a combustion gas flow path for allowing combustion gas discharged from the burner to pass. |
