PURPOSE: A method for capturing a screen image on an optical disc device is provided to correctly select/store the displayed screen image of a desired time as a captured image during playback of a DVD(Digital Versatile Disc), and minimize a memory capacity by storing the captured image as various encoding method such as the JPEG(Joint Photographic Experts Group) or the MPEG(Moving Picture Experts Group). CONSTITUTION: A video signal read from the optical disc is recovered to an original video image(S11). The recovered video image is temporarily stored in a video buffer and is output/displayed through a screen of a connected device(S12). In case that the screen image capture is requested by key input from a user while the video image is displayed to a screen, the video image displayed on the time is read from the video buffer and is stored in a memory(S15).
