The thermally insulated garment has one or more insulating elements (10, 20). They are made at least partly from a material that is incompressible under the forces it encounters during use and can contain polymers, air pockets or cells, or synthetic wadding. Depending on the sport and sex of the wearer the insulating elements can be positioned to cover different parts of the body.
