The satellite TV system includes a decoder connected by its SCART output terminal to video monitor (11). The monitor contains only the circuits necessary for processing the decoder signals, avoiding the need to purchase a television receiver for these decoded signals. The system for reception of audio and video programmes by satellite and cable includes a decoder (10) receiving signals either from a parabolic satellite dish (1) or from a cable TV system. The decoder is connected by its SCART output terminal to video monitor (11) containing only the circuits necessary for processing the decoder signals, besides the monitor control circuits receiving information from its remote control (12) and its supply. The link may be non-secure, allowing the user to replace the television with his video monitor, or to make use of a hired or purchased decoder-monitor. Decoded audio signals are transmitted to output terminals on the decoder, allowing the connection of external loudspeakers with integral amplification. The system may also operate with a video cassette recorder or DVD player. |
