The prefabricated building has a timber supporting frame essentially of posts (3) and horizontal rails (4A, 4B, 4C) forming sections that can be covered by facing (5A, 5B) or filling (6A, 6B) materials. The posts have at least three grooves in their lateral surfaces, at least between the top and intermediate rails, that act as slideways for filling materials such as boards, sheet or film materials. The filling materials can have interlocking horizontal edges e,g, in the form of tongues and grooves. The facing materials, normally applied between the bottom and intermediate rails, are in the form of panels with spaces between them that can be used to carry pipework. In addition, the bottom and intermediate rails have ends shaped to engage with notches in the posts.
