The procedure for transfer of a coating uses a transfer support to carry the coating material. The transfer support has a pyrolysis temperature which is less than the melting temperature of the coating. Articles which have been coated are subsequently subject to an increase in temperature. The procedure for transfer of a coating on to articles with a rough or crooked surface comprises a first stage of applying to the articles a coating carried by a transfer support. The transfer support has a pyrolysis temperature which is less than the melting temperature of the coating. The coating itself has an adhesion temperature which is less than the pyrolysis temperature of the transfer support. The articles which have been coated are then subject to the melting point temperature of the coating. The transfer support is then partially retracted before subjecting the articles to an increase in temperature.
