The fixing system for wall facing panels (20) with tongued and grooved joints on their lower and upper edges includes an additional fastener (10) fitted to the grooved edge of a lower panel to retain the tongue (27) of an upper panel when it is inserted into the groove (25). The additional fastener is in the form of a flexible stainless metal or plastic hook, joined to the raised rear edge (28) of the lower panel by a screw or nail driven through holes (14, 29) in both components. The hooked end of the fastener allows the tongue of the next panel to be inserted at an oblique angle and retains it reliably when the panel is moved into its vertical position for fixing.
