PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively reduce the generation of emission sound at low cost with light weight in an exhaust system of an engine wherein an intermediate part or a downstream end of an exhaust pipe has an emission sound generating part generating emission sound by exciting a wall surface by shock wave generated by the pressure pulsation of exhaust gas flowing in the exhaust pipe. SOLUTION: An upstream part 4A upstream of the emission sound generating part 5 of the exhaust pipe 4 is formed with a swollen pipe part 11 for suppressing the growth of the shock wave at the upstream part to reduce the generation of the emission sound from the emission sound generating part 5.
