PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a locking structure for a new manhole lid having no possibility of impairing the road surface even if the manhole lid is put on the road surface without damaging a lock member on the way to transportation of the manhole lid. SOLUTION: The locking structure of the new manhole lid includes link members 3 and 4 with one end of each of them supported on the inner circumferential side of a holding frame 2 in a rotatable manner and located in up and down, the lock member 5 moveably connected to the other end of each of the link members 3 and 4 in the vertical direction and constituted by forming engaging sections 18a and 19a in the upper end, engaging members 6 and 7 arranged to the rear side of the manhole lid 1 and movable in inside and outside directions of the manhole lid 1 and engaged with the engaging sections 18a and 19a formed in the lock member 5 and elastic members 8 to 11 energizing the engaging members 6 and 7 in the inside direction of the manhole lid 1. An engagement state of the engaging members 6 and 7 with the engaging sections 18a and 19a formed in the lock member 5 is released by moving the manhole lid 1 to the outside after it has been moved upward by a crow-bar.
