PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper-strengthening agent enabling a coating density to be increased and requiring a small drying load. SOLUTION: (1) The paper-strengthening agent contains a sugar having 2-10 average degree of polymerization as an active ingredient. (2) The sugar in the paper-strengthening agent of (1) is a starch sugar. (3) The sugar in the paper-strengthening agent of (1) or (2) forms a fluid or a semifluid when water is added thereto so that the solid content is 75wt.%. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
