The backrest has a four-part frame with a spring mat to support the padding. The spring mat (8) is suspended from the top cross strut (3) of the frame, and has a window (15), which extends across the length of horizontal stitching of the padding cover, which is visible on back and front of the backrest. The mat has two vertical spring wires (9), which are curved outwards and suspended from the neighboring side struts (2) to form the window. The vertical wires are locked relative to each other by cross spring wires (19,13).
