It is intended to obtain proteins forming an SEA-like domain and being appropriate for structural analysis, analyze the structural data thereof and employ the results in drug discovery, etc. More specifically speaking, a protein comprising the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:1 or a salt thereof, a protein having an amino acid sequence derived from the amino acid sequence represented by SEQ ID NO:2 by deletion of 0 to 10 amino acids from the N-end and further deletion of 0 to 10 amino acids from the C-end an d having from 120 to 139 amino acid residues or a salt thereof, a process for producing the same, polynucleotides encoding the same, antibodies against th e above proteins, a screening method using the same, etc. are provided.
