PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving means for a braid producing unit for making the diameters of a great number of rotary units smaller and arranging the rotary units in a high density in the braid producing unit for a braid texture with which a great number of fiber carriers are moved by a large number of lines and rows of the rotary units. SOLUTION: The drive of the braid producing unit 10 for moving the carriers 17 along a fixed route by the selective rotation of a head 12 by a large number of lines and rows of the rotary units 11 is carried out by rotating and driving a face rack 31 at a fixed angle as a unit necessary for the movement of the carriers in a state in which rotatable pinions 30 arranged at the driving ends of the rotor units are geared with the face rack 31 with connecting a clutch 25 between the driving end and the head in the necessary rotary unit.
