PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a hose for an automobile, which has an adequate sliding property with other articles, has superior wear resistance, hardly deteriorates, and further has a superior gas barrier property. SOLUTION: This method for manufacturing a hose includes a pretreatment step for exposing the face to be film-formed consisting of an organic material in a substrate of the hose for the automobile to plasma of oxygen (O<SB>2</SB>) gas, as pretreatment, and subsequently fluorine-terminating or (and) hydrogen-terminating the face to be film-formed by exposing it to plasma of at least one gas selected from a fluorine (F)-containing gas and a hydrogen (H<SB>2</SB>)-containing gas; and the subsequent step of forming a DLC film having the wear resistance, lubricity and the gas barrier property on the face to be film-formed, with a plasma-CVD method.
