PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify and miniaturize the constitution of an apparatus with which wastes are compressed and simultaneously these materials are distinguished. SOLUTION: The apparatus for treating the wastes compressing the wastes W such as a can, a PET bottle, is provided with a waste inserting hole 2 for inserting the wastes, a compressing means 4 for compressing the wastes inserted from the waste inserting hole, a means for supplying electric current to the compressed wastes, a distinguishing means for distinguishing the wastes from the conducting state of the waste by electrically supplying, a rotary plate 7 for classifying the wastes compressed with the compressing means in respective materials distinguished with the distinguishing means and holding means 11, 12 for holding the wastes W classified with the classifying means in respective materials.
