PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily obtain a forged article in which defects, such as punch-out and hang-down of a lubricant, are restrained by restricting sticking of the lubricant of more than the amount causing the defective forging on the formed surface with punching. SOLUTION: In a closed die forging method for producing the forged article by using metallic molds combined with a punch and a die in which the outer peripheral surface of the punch is brought into contact with the inner peripheral surface in forming hole of the die, the forging formation is started without sticking the lubricant at the upper end side on the inner peripheral surface of the forming hole.
