PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate an exchange work of a paste (syringe) by a worker in a paste coating device adopted in assembling and manufacturing a liquid crystal substrate. SOLUTION: The substrate 2 is mounted on a stage 4A on an X-Y-θmovement mechanism 4B and a paste pattern is drawn on the surface of the substrate 2 by a relative movement between the syringes 4E1, 4E2 on a head mechanism 4E. A movement driving source (motor 4B1a) in the Y direction in the X-Y-θmovement mechanism 4B is mounted on an opposite side (conveying robot 3 side) to the position where the worker stands and a distance L between the syringes 4E1, 4E2 and the worker is shortened. Thereby, the exchange work for the syringes 4E1, 4E2 is facilitated and an efficiency of the paste coating step is realized. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
