The roof is raised using hydraulically operated tappets (2), with a pair of tappets (2.1, 2.2) at each end of the carriage. Each pair of tappets is connected via swing arms (3) to a torsion bar (4) extending in the carriage cross-direction. The upper side of the swing arm between the tappet and torsion bar connections is connected via articulated joints to a hydraulic drive device and a cam (11). A pawl (9) used as a safety device is actively connected to the cam. The carriages have fixed side walls, end walls which can be opened closed and a raisable roof which can be lifted or lowered in each corner.
