Soil excavation involves lowering a milling device (20) installed a floating body (10), e.g. a ship, w.r.t a flat soil bed at several times, so that the primary zone of crushed soil of specified depth is removed from the soil bed. A secondary zone of crushed soil of the same depth, adjacent to the primary zone, is removed. An independent claim is also included for a soil excavation apparatus.
